Camps

Northwestern University will be offering four summer fencing camps in 2018. Please see below for details. For more information on all camps and to register, please visit www.wildcatfencingcamps.com.

Two Youth Camps:
Session 1: June 14-17 from 10:30am-1:30pm
Session 2: July 26-29 from 9am-12pm
 
These are beginner to intermediate level foil camps. They will focus on the fundamentals of fencing, overall motor skills development, and physical fitness. Beginners can expect to learn the basic movements and ideas of fencing and to engage in the fun and unique experience of partner sparring with a sword in a safe and controlled environment.  Intermediate fencers can expect to improve their form, timing, and understanding of their fencing tools.  Above all, everyone can expect to have fun and learn at the same time! Ages 8-13.
 
Competitive Camp:
Thursday, June 14-Sunday, June 17 from 10:30am-4:30pm
 
This camp will focus on competition skills from strip tactics to mental preparation.  Excellent for pre-nationals preparation or for developing your overall competitive mindset.  The camp will include some technical work, exploration of tactical frameworks, and situational drills and bouts which will provide opportunities to test and apply tactics and strategies for re-focus. Ages 12 and up. Competitive experience recommended. 
 
Elite Camp:
Monday, July 30 – Friday, August 3 from 10am-5pm
 
This camp is designed to push each attendee’s level as we start a new season. The camp will focus on improving technical, tactical, and mental aspect of the sport while helping athlete’s evaluate their process to help improve their results. This camp will feature Olympic medal-winning coaches, Mike Pederson and Ro Sobalvarro. Ages 12 and up.

Wildcat Fencing Club

Wildcat Fencing Club is the Northwestern University-affiliated Fencing Club for Chicagoland communities. Classes, practices, and camps are held on the Evanston Campus of Northwestern University. The club is run by the Northwestern University Fencing Team Coaching Staff, including Zach Moss, Eric Momberg, and Luther Clement.

Whether you are brand new to fencing and just want to try it out or are an experienced competitor looking to take your game to the next level, Wildcat Fencing Club is for you! Open to any and all.

Wildcat Fencing Club runs classes 11 months of the year. The Club is closed during the month of July.

FACILITY:

640 Lincoln Street – https://goo.gl/4stTZr. The building is located on the corner of Lincoln Street and Orrington Avenue. Please enter through the Lincoln Street entrance.

PARKING:

There is parking lot available to the east side of the building for parking. Street parking is also available.

EQUIPMENT:
We have fencing attire available to borrow if needed. Please wear sneakers and long pants. No shorts permitted for safety reasons. A water bottle is also recommended.

As a US Fencing Member Club, all participants are required to have a US Fencing Membership. Memberships can be purchased online at http://www.usfencing.org/page/show/698114-individual-membership. They are yearly memberships and cost $10 per year for a Non-Competitive Membership and $70 per year for a Competitive Membership.
